Recommended Articles for You: Interested in learning more about immune agonistic antibodies research?
Immune agonistic antibodies (IAAs) are likely to be an essential component of future cancer immunotherapy, but challenges such as managing immune-related adverse events need to be addressed. The article provides an informative overview of IAAs as an alternative strategy for cancer immunotherapy and highlights the mechanisms of action, challenges as well as potential of three specific targets of IAAs (CD40, OX40, and 4-1BB).

Our innate immune system is an intricate checks and balances system that incorporates numerous positive and negative co-stimulatory molecules. In particular, the B7 membrane protein family has shown to play a collaborative role in regulating T cell responses, either transmitting the ‘second’ signal in tandem with CD28 or CTLA-4 to stimulate T cell proliferation, T cell differentiation, inhibit immune responses, or induce antigenic tolerance. Depending on the receptor interaction, T lymphocyte-mediated immune response can be either inhibited or stimulated. |
