Quinoline derivatives are often used in the designs of many synthetic compounds with diverse pharmacological properties. They have antiseptic, antipyretic properties and are used for the preparation of antimalarial drugs. Anticancer activities [1,2] have been studied for many quinoline derivatives. It has been known that quinoline derivatives may act as anticancer agents through a variety of mechanisms with the most common mechanism being the inhibition of tyrosine kinase isozymes . In a recent published study by Ökten et al.  6,8-dibromide and 6,8-dimethoxide quinolines showed promising activities against several tumour cell lines.
The diversity of the substitution on the quinoline ring system offers additional industrial applications such as fungicide, biocides, flavouring agents, corrosion inhibitors and pharmaceuticals.
The presence of halogen atoms allows higher reactivity, therefore the preference given to such compounds by synthetic chemists in performing coupling reactions  or metal –halogen exchange reaction .
Brominated quinolines contain a key structural component of numerous compounds and bromoquinoline-based derivative synthesis is often restricted due to the difficulty in the preparation of bromoquinoline.
