Enzymatic Synthesis of Glycoside - Sugar Nucleotide

 　

Sugar nucleotide is formed by the combination of glycosyl and the terminal phosphate group of nucleoside monophosphate or diphosphate, which has important physiological significance. First, it acts as an intermediate in the transformation of monosaccharide structure. The second role is to serve as sugar donors in the biosynthesis of glycosides and polysaccharides. Compared to chemical glycosylation， enzymatic glycosylation can proceed stereo and regio-specifically in mild conditions without using protecting group manipulation procedures.
